RECEPTION AND DISPLAY OF IMPARJA TELEVISION PROGRAMMING VIA OPTUS B1

This info From Imparja

Over the past few months we have become aware of a number of hotels, pubs and clubs in capital city and regional locations who are displaying Imparja broadcasts of sports events and the like which are otherwise not available on the “local” free to air TV channels. This is not permitted. Any out of area organisation (pub, club, satellite equipment provider etc) should be aware of this.

Australian Broadcasting Authority regulations prevent Imparja from delivering its signal to locations outside its licence area. The signal being intercepted is not Imparja’s broadcast service which is on Optus B3, and is scrambled to prevent un-authorised reception. It is in fact a private point to point link which delivers Imparja’s “raw” content to the main uplink site. It is NOT designed or intended for direct reception.

The organisations providing the equipment and those responsible for the technical information on how to intercept our signal have no rights to make any representations about the reception or use of Imparja’s signals for any purpose whatsoever.

Much of our programme content is not critical with regard to coverage area because it is broadcast simultaneously by the local TV stations. Sports events by contrast are often restricted with regard to the times, and areas where they may, or may not be shown.

Imparja has, and will continue to adopt measures to prevent unauthorised reception of its private communications signal, for specific programme content (particularly sports).

Any organisation outside our licence area who has purchased, for the commercial use of Imparja broadcasts is strongly advised to return it to the suppliers and seek a full refund of any money paid.
